Executive Summary

Rezi works because it found a fear that renews itself every hiring cycle and priced the cure at an impulse-buy level. The mechanism is specific: nearly every large employer screens resumes with software before a human reads them, job seekers know this and dread it, and Rezi sells the feeling of beating that filter for $29 a month or $149 once. That is a pricing arbitrage against two incumbent alternatives, the human resume writer and the raw word processor, and it compounds because every layoff wave, graduation season, and AI panic refills the top of the funnel for free. The company started as a weekend project in May 2015, spent five years near zero, then rode two demand shocks, the 2020 job-market disruption and the 2023 ChatGPT-era surge, to a business that has now cleared $9.35 million in cumulative gross Stripe charges and runs at roughly $252,000 in gross charges per 30 days as of June 2026.1

The core lever is not the AI. It is the ATS narrative: a believable, durable, externally validated reason why your resume fails, paired with a tool that claims to fix exactly that. AI generation was bolted onto that narrative in 2021, three launches deep into the product's history, and it multiplied conversion rather than creating the category.2

Provenance note: all revenue figures in this teardown are gross Stripe charge volume from a local TrustMRR daily export (2,891 daily points, 2015-06-16 to 2026-06-09). TrustMRR states the data is verified via a Stripe API key, but charge volume is not audited recurring MRR, and this report does not treat it as MRR.
